the mistery of … the missing fuel line ? or the fuel drenched engine bay? or the puddle of fuel ?

 

anyway this is what happened… i take my 2007cc engined beetle, start it, and smell fuel… hmmm… stop. fuel is gushing everywhere in my engine bay, there is a puddle of fuel of several litres of fuel under my car… i take away passenger side wheel and i cannot find a fuel line. somebody placed it at the wrong side apparently… (you know… at the side of the spark making starter ???) i remove the other wheel and notice that the fuel line even touches the hottest part of my car: my exhaust. not good. twice. hmmm.. (its a miracle i am still alive)

 

butttt… how did my fuel got into my engine bay i start thinking… and then, i see the wonder: a missing bolt in the float bowl of my 48IDA. no wonder everything is fuel drenched and soaked !

 

every year or season: check your fuel lines !

and keep on wrenching !
